The Residents Blog, September 2008
The Residents' Blog was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper, then The Residents' Official News BOG and later Official News Blog).
The BOG became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign early in this month. At this point (at least according to the website's header after the redesign) the blog was simply called The Residents Blog.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in September 2008, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

Detail on Rennes, France show
Sep/06/08 09:20 AM
- I have been told that the performance at the Trans Musicals Festival in Rennes, France on December 6 will be an “edited and condensed show.” As is often the nature of festivals, multiple acts performing does not allow for the usual Residents concept of “An Evening with The Residents.”
- There will be three acts (I don’t know who the other two are) and The Residents will be first as they will need the pre-show time to build the set.
- Thought you would want to know.
Russian Bunny Boy update

- Mute has licensed The Bunny Boy to S.B.A./GALA Records in Moscow. The package will be re-created in Cyrillic.
- Release date set for September 29.
Postcards from Patmos
Sep/12/08 04:10 PM
- Surprise! Another album is on the way. POSTCARDS FROM PATMOS will make an appearance on Oct 3rd in Santa Cruz. The album which is available only at the merchandise stand at The Bunny Boy Show is the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK for the VIDEO SERIES that you see running here on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.
- The KOOL thing is that the package has an additional pocket and CD holder so you can take the BUNNY BOY CD you already own out of its jewel case and store it in this special version which then creates a 2/CD set. Toss the jewel case and admire this rare beauty.
- Sold only at the shows. Can’t make the shows? Start begging people who are going to pick one up for you.

- The Residents entered the world of electronic synthesis in the 1970s during a time of legendary exploration and growth. When pioneers like Robert Moog and Don Buchla were creating analog synthesizers that were finally affordable for the masses, The Residents eagerly became one of the earliest groups to embrace the new technology.
- While recording The Bunny Boy album, The Residents employed an arsenal of digital synthesis equipment. However, when the time came to score the Internet series, the mood of the series seemed to call for the older analog synthesis that they had not used in decades. Enthusiastically unwrapping their older instruments, the group soon discovered that, other than the occasional and humorous oscillator drift, the instruments all worked perfectly. Of course, being out of tune was not considered a problem.
- To supplement their own collection, The Residents turned to old friends who had also kept some of their original analog units. Then, combining their new analog experiments with organic location recordings from their collection, the group quickly assembled these soundscapes to support the darkly humorous images found in The Bunny Boy videos.
- The Residents had come full circle, and again experienced the pains and joys of broken patch cables and dirty pots.

Tour Merch update
Sep/27/08 01:04 PM
- I spoke with Ralph America this morning. Here is the week-end info on merchandise.
- 1. Santa Cruz will not have the full line of merchandise as it is still in production.
- 2. Santa Cruz may or may not have the CD “Postcards from Patmos” as it is at the manufacturer. If all goes well it will be sold in Santa Cruz. The music from this CD will be used as the “walk-in music” played before the performance. That way you can decide if you wish to own it.
- 3. The merchandise starting in Washington DC will include what is described to me as a “dog tag.” It is some kind of tag that has the classic eyeball on one side and a code on the other that allows one to download the 15 minutes of music from The Bunny Boy intermission. This music is closely related to music that was posted here for the Summer Beach Party.
- 4. There will be 3 or so T-shirt designs and 1 hoodie.
- 5. Also mentioned but not explained, is that there will also be a “mystery box” that will be different from night to night.
- All this will become more clarified as the week progresses.
