Official News Blog and Website Wrapper, August 2003
The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper was a news blog maintained by The Cryptic Corporation beginning August 15th 2003, following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).
The blog later developed into the BOG, a dedicated news blog which was The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.
This page collects posts made to this news blog from its inception until the end of August 2003, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

New products headed for shops in the USA

- Eskimo DVD and Kettles of Fish due in shops by end of summer
- Everyone who is anyone has already picked these up via mail-order, but by the end of summer they will be appearing in your usual megastores under a new distribution deal that Euro Ralph has worked out with Music Video Distributors.
- Eskimo DVD will be $20 and Kettles of Fish DVD/3CD will be $80. Also available, Icky Flix DVD at $25.

"PICKLE" to be available on tour
- Pickle, a DVD single from the Residents will be sold on the upcoming tour.

- TEDDY
- The first single from the Demons Dance Alone DVD will be "The Golden Goat." The disc will be offered for sale on the upcoming European tour. The NTSC/all region DVD will include a single sized edit of The Golden Goat video, plus a radical remix of both the video and music.
- The single is also noteworthy in that the sound for these videos has not been compressed. Because there was space on the disc, the music is in full PCM (like on CD's) format.
- As a bonus track, the homo-erotic SM video for "Teddy" has been included. This video was originally made for a proposed sequel to the DVD, Icky Flix. When the idea was dropped to do a follow-up, Teddy just got pushed off into a corner until being rediscovered this summer. Warning, contains nudity and fetishistic behavior.
- And yes, there is another not-so-hidden surprise as well.
- Plans for selling the disc through mail-order have not been finalized at this time. Watch this blog for news.

Ralph America has a new contest - Part 2
- Turn art from contest 1 into something useful to mankind.
- Download some art, put your techie cap on, and turn the art into something computer like. Suggestions are to turn it into a series of desktop patterns, desktop icons, screen savers, MP3 player skins/themes, flash movies, typeface, imovies etc.

- RZWEB moves to RZWEB.net
- tzoq in his most high kindness, allowed this blog to step into the residents.com shoes. But he is far from gone and hopes to have a revitalized site soon that doesn't have Cryptic Corp looking over his shoulder all the time. Tokyo - Two-night lecture on the art of The Residents
- "Medama no Gakko" (School of Eyeballs) lecture series draws diverse crowd.
- Noted lecturer, Manabu Yuasa, presented two three hours lectures on The Residents last week entitled, Medama no Gakko (School of Eyeballs).
- The first lecture focused on the Residents early works suggesting their North Louisiana roots contributed to their messages through works like The Third Reich 'n' Roll video, Eskimo, The Mole Show.
- The second lecture (a few days later) focused on cover tunes by The Residents in comparison with the originals.
- Mr. Yuasa played the new cover of Bob Dylan's 'Maggy's Farm" at the end of each lecture. The recording had been presented to the lecture series as a gift from The Residents to the audience.
- Before and during this lecture event, Tower Records in Shibuya constructed a special display for The Residents CDs with audio sampling equipment and flyers advertising the lecture.
- The next lecture is planned for October.

Ralph America -- Disfigured Night DVD
- The 1997 German performance/TV piece is finally getting some respect.
- Ralph America has announced that there are definite plans for a DVD release of Disfigured Night coming later in the fall. The disc will include the original broadcast version which was shot by VIVA (German music TV) in celebration for the Residents 25th Anniversary. Also on the disc will be a unique video remix. This was created by taking feeds directly from the cameras before the graphics were inserted to replace the green screen. Therefore the green screen could be removed by The Residents and enhanced with new backgrounds.
- This new 2003 full length (31 minutes) rethinking of the story of Silly Billy is accompanied by both a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround mix and a PCM Stereo mix for those without surround systems. NTSC, 4:3 ratio picture.
- At this time, no release date has been announced as the packaging is still being designed. Watch these pages for a release date announcement.
