Official News BOG, August 2004
The Residents' Official News BOG was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper), following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).
Around March 2004, this blog became known as the Official News BOG. In this form, the blog became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in August 2004, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

Euro Ralph to the Rescue
- Euro Ralph today announced plans to bring Not Available back into print in both CD and vinyl formats along the lines of other recent ER back catalog releases.
- No details are yet available but we will let you know when there are details. Please don't contact ER asking about this. It only makes them not want to tell us anything in advance.

The Missing Year
- The rumor is that Ralph America, knowing that The Residents were busy with new projects for Mute, casually asked the group if they had something old they would like to put out. The group responded as they usually do to such a question,"nope".
- Then one said, well there is always the missing year.
- The "missing year" apparently ran from late 1996 to summer 1997. It started after the completion of Bad Day on the Midway and the theatrical run of Freak Show in Prague. It ended with Disfigured Night.
- In between, one project dominated The Residents every waking moment.
- Designed to be the crowning glory of The Residents wild ride with CD-ROM, I Murdered Mommy became an insane vision. Even as The Residents labored to design and sell the idea, the whole CD-ROM market was collapsing around them. The project was finally shelved.
- The Ralph America release is said to be a book of the drawings and writings for the project plus a CD of preliminary music that was used for the corporate sales pitches in the attempt to raise the funds to actually create the CD-ROM. I haven't seen any of it, but I have every reason to suspect it will prove to be an intriguing look at an idea that never happened as well as plug a hole in The Residents project time line. It will not be the actual CD-ROM, of course, as it never existed.
- My best guess is that it will be released in time for the holidays, but I also know that often these kinds of things run later than expected. I'll keep you informed as I learn more.

MoMa NY to show new videos
- I have sketchy information that The Museum of Modern Art in New York will be showing the ten new one-minute movies by The Residents as part of a video program on Wednesday, December 1, 2004.
- The original four one-minute movies (1980) are part of the permanent collection of the museum. The new one-minute movies were created for the soon to be released, The Commercial Album DVD.

Spin Magazine shows taste
- Spin Says:
- "The Residents The Third Reich 'N' Roll (Ralph,1976) The demented mentors. With cover art featuring Dick Clark in a Gestapo uniform holding a carrot-keep nibbling, kids!- this geek opus remixes (i.e. eviscerates) '60's pop standards with sick, gleeful skill. Their version of the 'Stones "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (foreshadowing Devo) burns Mick and Keith at the stake."
- Now, does that make you feel terribly square to be acknowledged by SPIN? Does it make you feel validated? Does it make you wonder why only one RZ album is on the list? Are you surprised that SPIN has even heard of The Residents?
- Do you think they have noticed that Satisfaction is not on The Third Reich N Roll?
- (Thanks for the alert, Victor.)
