RSD Elimination plan
- Second to disappear will be will be
- Followed by 1981-1988
- then 1989-1997
- and predictably enough, 1998-2011
- Last will be the Charles Bobuck and exclusive to RSD titles.
- There is currently no plan to revive a download store. This could change. I assume all these titles have reached saturation.
- I remind that the On-Demand store is still an option for some obscure recordings.

All Sales Day
- All Sales Day is still in the works for this Sunday, November 3rd! It'll go up at 1PM, Pacific - hopefully that'll accommodate most folks. If you're in Japan you have my sincere apologies. (Though you still get to live in Japan! How cool is that?) This is going to be a very odds-and-ends-y sale, mostly leftovers from recent tours and from Miles' tenure as seller. BUT we will have a new CD for you. There was one RSD release everybody regretted not putting on CD. It's been updated and pressed, and now it's coming at you. DIRECTLY AT YOU. NOTE: Only a tiny bit of this sale will be taking place in the old eBay Outlet. Most of it will be in a BRAND NEW (electronic) STOREFRONT!
- Blame me for this one. Last year I came up with the "brilliant" idea for the ERA B4-74 web site. As a product idea I assembled some of the old poorly recorded music from the late 1960s and early 1970s. I made a download mp3 collection. Of course there was actually little interest in the B4-74 web site, or its many products, other than some kind of perverse attraction in the old recordings. So here is that collection of old stuff, only cleaned up and lossless. Additionally there is music that has never been heard outside of the archive collection. Perhaps with good reason. Tapes that hiss are no longer considered an obstacle. So here it is. A collection - no, an expanded collection - of music from a time when there was no thought of record companies, touring Europe, or selling refrigerators for a living. Welcome to the world of The Delta Nudes.
- ---Big Brother
- Sale Starts November 3 at 1 PM (13) PST. The (new) Ralph Outlet store.
News updates
Details on the closing of RSD
- Some people are whimpering that the last few years wasn't enough time to be able to buy selections from RSD. Here are some details that might be useful.
- The idea to close at the end of this month is primarily based on the need to get off the DownloadCentric severs, not to get off the BOG. So titles will be removed as I have time. Nothing will be removed before October 1 in the last time zone on the planet. After that, titles will start being erased beginning with those that have been largely ignored for a long time and working toward eliminating them all over the next week or so. The deadline for DownloadCentric is the end of October but I expect to be cleared of their server well before then.
- The point being that it is likely you can still download a popular title after the 1st of October. It is a soft deadline as RSD will fade away, not cut off.
Mush-Room CD and LP now for sale (MVD)
Santa Dog ('72) is back from the dead
- No, it isn't zombie SD. In honor of the 40th Anniversary, Santa Dog 2x7" vinyl is again set for release as soon as it gets done. A few months from now I am guessing. A big batch will be offered for free too, in the spirit of the original release. Maybe it will even get sent to Nixon and Zappa again. Don't know for sure. I'll give details when delivery is near. Released by Superior Viaduct. http://www.superiorviaduct.com/
Residue (of The Residents)vinyl
- Superior Viaduct is at it again. They have licensed the original RESIDUE for vinyl and will be pairing it with a second disc of the additional music from RESIDUE DEUX plus other same era songs. The 2xLp is not due for release until early 2014.
NBC covers delivery of the UBS.
- I was sent a link to a story of the UBS delivery. Must have been crazy.

The RADIO THOREAU project launched.
- RADIO THOREAU
- I looked at my watch and I thought, it is time for something different. There are no new ideas. There are no new songs. All we can do is stop racing from one thing to the next and take a moment to hear deeper rather than hear more.
- "The question is not what you look at, but what you see." - Henry D. Thoreau [Journal, 5 August 1851]
- The Radio Thoreau project. Part RADIO, part THOREAU.
- Radio, the single, the mainstay of iTunes. The Residents stopped making singles decades ago, back when a 45RPM record had a big hole in the middle. Today that big hole has come to symbolize an area of music that has not been properly explored. The single.
- Thoreau, the social reformer, naturalist, philosopher, transcendentalist, scientist.
- "If I am not I, who will be?" Henry D. Thoreau [Journal, 9 August 1841]
- I will be remixing, rethinking, remastering songs from The Residents. Mostly it will be recent tunes which I consider to be under appreciated. Perhaps this is partly due to the continuance of The Residents working in the "concept album" style which has become so unpopular in the last 15 years. My perspective is that I am "fixing" the songs. Fixing them to feel more comfortable in their surroundings.
- These new singles will be found on iTunes, Amazon and the other usual download channels.
- Your friend,
- Charles (fixer) Bobuck.
- "You cannot hear music and noise at the same time." Henry D. Thoreau [Journal, 27 April 1854]
