From RZWiki

Residents.com news was the news section of The Residents' official website, Residents.com, maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in September 2010 and concluding in September 2014.

As social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter became more widely used by the group, The Residents' news updates during this period were more often premiered on either of those services, usually Facebook.

This page collects posts made to this news section in or around December 2011, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

"That means I can't even stimulate a good discussion about the music from 2011. It seems more like the trickle that keeps coming out of a faucet even after you have turned it off."

—Big Brother

We have entered into that nether zone between Solstice based celebrations and the end of 2011. The taint of the year. Always a good time to look backwards.
We had the conclusion to the Talking Light tour and the obvious leftovers from that project (•) One leftover from the Bunny era (#) A hanger-on from CUBE E (*) A thing that is a few years old (@) leaving us with two gen-u-wine new Residents events for 2011.
Sam's Enchanted Evening - which hardly anyone saw and had no Residents music in it, and
Coochie Brake - which hardly anyone heard and is not really set for release until 2012.
That means I can't even stimulate a good discussion about the music from 2011. It seems more like the trickle that keeps coming out of a faucet even after you have turned it off.
So I won't wax endlessly about the good-old 2011. I think all the things listed ABOVE turned out pretty good. In 3 or 4 years I expect to pull out Lonely Teenager and get my mind blown. I'm still too close at this point in time. Bimbo's Talking Light is the appropriate recording for this long tour capturing a near perfect realization of the idea. But as I suffer from ennui it all seems like it is last year stuff. Dolor Generar is classic but will never see much widespread attention. It is too abstract. Chuck says Coochie Brake is the album that grew out of the experiences of making Dolor Generar. But that is not officially out until next year. It is very hard to grasp what Sam's EE is wanting to be or where it will go from here.
2011 was the wrap-up of 2010. I don't expect a lot out of 2012 either to be honest. 2012 isn't even here and it already feels like 2009 all over again. That 's not as bad as it sounds. 2009 was when all the formulation for Randy, Chuck & Bob took place and it made for a fantastic 2010. So 2012 could see some radical thinking, but it might be pretty invisible to us out here waiting for physical results of the thought process.
I will do what I can to keep the nostalgia going by working with Miles on new old music. Above all else we still will have each other on the chat, that will certainly be fun at times.

HEAVEN & HELL 25th Anniversary CD coming to Ralph eBay.

Cryptic will be observing the arrival of the Compact Disc into the world of The Residents with the re release of their first CD 25 years ago, Heaven & Hell. Ralph eBay will carry the limited edition double CD. The original 1986 CD set was released by RYKO Disc, one of the first independent adopters of the new technology.

RSD - CUBE E Dynasone 3EZ

Undeniably one of The Residents optimal work was CUBE E, but as can happen when a project covers so many different media types and recordings, there has never been the recording - the album - that brings the project into a whole.
Some time ago I had run into a recording experiment where the group had compiled an album that represented the various aspects of this very sophisticated and complex project. Unfortunately not only was the album never released, but the CDR they had burned of the project had become corrupted during storage and was not playable as it stood.
One thing that set this experiment apart was the fact that they had tested a new piece of software (new in 2000, no longer made) called Dynasone. Dynasone was a mastering program that used complex digital calculations to enhance and restore recordings.
I had long written off the collection of recordings as worthless. Until last week. I ran into a disk of working files used in the creation of the damaged CD. The disc was marked "Dynasone 3EZ" so I checked it and found pristine mixes from the work. Not all the recordings were there, so it was a bit of a disappointment, but I have attempted to restore the missing pieces.
-
The recordings draw on all aspect of the CUBE E era. However it is more than a compilation, it has an astounding sound that should should be heard on headphones or in surround.
I am pleased to announce the addition of "Dynasone 3EZ" to RSD for a limited time. I am doing it for a limited time as i am seriously proposing to Cryptic that this recording should see full release.
Additionally I am making it available for $5.00 as I anticipate my repair work reduces its value. But I am hoping that the Residents will revisit this collected project idea.
CUBE E project started in the late '80's.
