Official News BOG, September 2004
The Residents' Official News BOG was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper), following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).
Around March 2004, this blog became known as the Official News BOG. In this form, the blog became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in September 2004, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

Prague to host Commercial Album DVD Premier

- Commercial Album DVD banners fly from the tall towers of Prague's Cineplex 16
- Okay, that is not really the "Cineplex 16." It's the lovely 14th Century Church of Our Lady before Tyn located in the heart of Prague. However, the premier is real and here is the information:
- International Film Festival
- Film on Music-Music on Film
- 14-17 October
- Stepanska 61, Palace Lucerna, 116 02, Prague 1, Czech Republic
- Phone [redacted]
- Fax [redacted]
- From the program:
- "World premiere: MOFFOM and Mute Records are proud to announce the world premiere of The Commercial Album DVD by The Residents. Faceless anti-stars whose origins and personal lives have been shrouded in mystery for the past thirty years, The Residents have influenced generations of sound and visual artists with trans-media works like The Commercial Album. Initiated in 1980 as an incisive response to payola radio, they released their own original top 40, crafting each song to be exactly sixty seconds long. This would allow them to purchase advertising slots and replace the ads with songs, eliminating payola's middle men. The four films created for the project are housed today in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Now, forty new films will complete the opus. The world premiere will be attended by a Mute Records London spokesperson."

Halloween 2004
- [broken image: fruitweb.jpg]
- The Residents are masters of disguise
- No, this is not an announcement of a Residents Halloween show. There is no show this Halloween.
- This is the explanation of why there is no show --- The Residents have been very busy.
- As Mute has just announced:
- "On October 25th (Europe) and November 2nd (USA) Mute will re-issue one of the most relevant albums by The Residents. The Commercial Album comes in a special edition hardbook, containing previously unseen images from the forthcoming Commercial DVD and the lyrics for all 40 tracks.
- The DVD will comprehend an extensive collection of new videos alongside the four original promo clips.
- Created before the existence of MTV, the original 4 short movies were immediately in high rotation when the fledgling music channel began broadcasting in 1982, and were soon incorporated into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Twenty Five years later, The Residents have lovingly undertaken the task of creating ten new one-minute videos, and commissioned more than 30 outstanding artists to join in the fun. The result is The Commercial Album DVD, containing 56 One Minute Movies - a virtual film festival in a box. The menu includes a unique interactive maze interface and a fascinating surround sound texture."

Commercial Album DVD party planned for Boston
- When:
- Tuesday, November 9th, 10:30pm
- .
- Where:
- Eavesdrop at River Gods
- 125 River Street in Boston
- .
- description of Eavesdrop:
- .
- Eavesdrop is a weekly party hosted at River Gods, a unique pub located in Boston just outside Central Square on River St.
- What you get is 4 hours of music and visuals, a matrix of style. Artist, fan, listener. The cozy and somehow warm confines of River Gods certainly keeps people visually stimulated. Recently voted "Best Soundsystem" by the Improper Bostonian, Eavesdrop is featured in cooperation with numerous college radio concert calendars, while many of those same college DJs join us to play records.
- Eavesdrop is also mentioned with some regularity in area media from the Boston Globe to the Weekly Dig. In addition, the Eavesdrop email list continues to expand, giving the customer and interested press three or four weeks notice as to what is to come. To subscribe: send a blank email to [redacted].
- .
- To be sure, Eavesdrop is not associated with any one label, any one style or any one sponsor. It's our aim to simply provide exposure to acts and music which may be missed by conventional outfits. In addition to having one great mid-week party.

Commercial Album DVD party planned for Chicago
- When: October 28th.
- Where: "Dreams Restaurant & Bar", 935 S State St., Lockport IL. 60441.
- The event will start at 7PM with a viewing of "The Eyes Scream" video and "Kettles of Fish" and "Icky Flix" DVD selections. This will be followed with the "Commercial" DVD being presented at 9PM.
- The visuals will be displayed on 8 plasma screens and over a dozen other monitors located through out the club. The night's visuals will also include simultaneous showings of "Pornograffix" and "Residential" picture slideshows, Rezzie screen savers, and other DVD favorites. The 5.1 surround system will only be provided in one section of the club that contains 2 plasmas and a monitor at each booth. Plenty of room for fun. And remember, this is only 3 days before Halloween, so don't be afraid to dress the part.
