Official News BOG, January 2007
The Residents' Official News BOG was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper), following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).
Around March 2004, this blog became known as the Official News BOG. In this form, the blog became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in January 2007, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

Brumalian treat - Alter Image - 1983
- [broken image: alterimageweb.jpg]
- Penn Jillette and The Residents were on the Mole tour back in 1983. The hip BBC show Alter Image wanted footage and took the opportunity to shoot in a Brixton pub as well as in the studio. Fortunately Penn has no problem making stuff up as he goes and The Residents only have to look pretty.

Mute's latest deluxe release
- Mute will be releasing another in their series of deluxe Residents CD's on January 20th and 23rd (depending on where you live.)
- This hard bound version of Freak Show (1991) features stories from the Freak Show graphic novel which was released by Dark Horse Comix back in 1992.
- The CD is the extended version and is about ten minutes longer than the 1991 version (also heard in the 10th Anniversary Ralph 2002 version.) The package also includes a bonus DVD that contains collected Freak Show relevant video. Though much of the video has been previously seen by any true fan, included on the disc are the final Freak Show animations by Jim Ludtke whose death stopped the production of a full fledged Freak Show DVD a couple of years ago.

And you thought an album a month was a lot of releases
- As you may not know, I am not a big fan of downloading songs. I still like CD's in nice packages. But the times have changed. While The Residents have been releasing a lot of music CD's as they roll into their 35th anniversary, I do feel that I have to point out that it pales compared to what is currently being poured into iTunes and probably other on-line download stores.
- The current iTunes sports a growing list of 29 titles by The Residents including more obscure limited edition music from Ralph releases as well as a never-before heard of download-only compilation album, RMX, which seems to be the tunes that have been popping up on MySpace and in the Vomitorious Downloads.

Vomitouious Download Store fading away
- As iTunes expands available titles, the Vomitorioum closes it's doors
- It was always just an experiment anyway. The experiment proved that updating the Vomitorioum took too much time and thought for someone (me) already a bit too busy. As iTunes moved into carrying more Residents, it didn't seem worth maintaining.
- Though it is still there, only the links to it are going away. If you wanna grab some last minute gift items, here is the link.

- The follow up to the triumphant Tweedles, their latest studio album, described as having "more idiosyncrasy and invention here than most groups muster in a lifetime" by Mojo and by The Independent as "uneasy listening", Freak Show is the latest in an ongoing collaboration between Mute and The Residents offering definitive releases of their classic albums.
- •
- Born out of a vague and uncomfortable childhood memory of a mule faced lady at the Lousiana State Fair, The Freak Show album, originally released in 1990, is the story of a collection of freaks, each with their own all-too human failings and each with a haunting theme song worming its way into the listener's brain.
- •
- Meet Harry The Head, Herman The Human Mole, Wanda The Worm Woman, Mickey The Mumbling Midget and Jello Jack The Boneless Boy. "Come in", say The Residents, "and make your mundane lives look like the kiss of bliss".
- •
- This being The Residents, once the album was released, things weren't quite over... Whilst travelling in England they met with comic artists Brian Bolland (visual creator of Judge Dread and the "Dark Knight" Batman) and Edwin "Savage Pencil" Pouncey. Quickly the idea of a graphic novel based on the Freak Show characters took shape and ten artists including Brian Bolland, Savage Pencil and Kyle Baker came together for the Dark Horse Comics published graphic novel which followed in 1992.
- •
- Two years later saw the release of the groundbreaking and award winning CD-ROM game, taking players through an interactive trip through the three dimensional Freak Show tent and a year after that, in 1995, the premiere of the stage adaption opened in Prague.
- •
- Mute continues this journey which started over 15 years ago with the definitive edition of The Residents' Freak Show. Available on CD as a deluxe hardbook format, the release compiles the original artwork and sleevenotes alongside a bonus DVD which features animated films on Herman The Human Mole, Benny The Bouncing Bump and the Pickled Punks along with an excerpt from the Freak Show Live in Prague, the Jelly Jack video from 1992 and the original press release.
- •
- Everyone comes to the Freak Show _/ To laugh at the Freaks and the Geeks_ / Life is a lot like a Freak Show_ / But nobody laughs when they leave.
