Suburban Bathers

From RZWiki

"Suburban Bathers" is the twelfth track on The Residents' Commercial Album, released by Ralph Records in October 1980. Like all other songs on the album, it is exactly one minute long.

The song is rumored to feature David Byrne of Talking Heads on backing vocals.

Music video

A music video was created by The Residents for the Commercial DVD in 2004. It is one of ten new videos made by the group for the DVD before deciding on making it a collaborative project. A second video for the song was produced by animator Incorect, who also produced a video for "Die in Terror".

Lyrics

Suburban bathers own the sea
But just between you and me
The sun has never fully set
that's seen the bathers fully wet
I see the sea
The sea sees me

They seem to run to morning light
And crash their boards between the night
If they'd learn to love themselves
They might survive the murky depths
I see the sea
The sea sees me

If I'd learn to love myself
I might survive the murky depths [1]
