Nice Old Man
Appearance
"Nice Old Man" is the thirty-third track on The Residents' Commercial Album, released by Ralph Records in October 1980. Like all other songs on the album, it is exactly one minute long. It features vocals by Nessie Lessons, credited on the album as "Mud's Sis".
An instrumental mix of the song was featured on the soundtrack album to Bruce R. Cook's 1984 film The Census Taker.
Music video
An animated video was directed by Belgian animator Geert Vandenbroele for the Commercial DVD in 2004. Vandenbroele also produced the video for "La La".
Lyrics
Something smiling sweetly; Something tall and thin; Something deep within my heart reminded me of him. He was not my lover; He was not my friend; He was just a nice old man who played the violin. [1]
