Give It to Someone Else

From RZWiki
(Redirected from Give It To Someone Else)

"Give It to Someone Else" is the twenty-third track on The Residents' Commercial Album, released by Ralph Records in October 1980. Like all other songs on the album, it is exactly one minute long. The lyrics seem to describe a fetishistic act of voyeurism.

History

This song was considered for The Residents' later-abandoned 10th anniversary live show; three different rehearsal takes of the song are known to exist. The Residents would finally perform the song live in 2013 during the Wonder of Weird 40th Anniversary tour.

Music video

A live-action short for the song was created by Rich Shupe — former Residents tour manager — for the Commercial DVD in 2004, in a somewhat literal interpretation of the song's lyrics.

Lyrics

I wanted to give it to someone else and hear what they would say
I wanted to give it to someone else and watch them as they played

I left it helpless all alone and waiting on the floor;
Squirming just a little bit and looking at the door;
He would take it as he wished and I would listen in,
Documenting as I would the sound of slapping skin.

I wanted to give it to someone else and hear what they would say
I wanted to give it to someone else and watch them as they played
I wanted to give it to someone else and watch them as they played[1]
