Eskimo Folk Tales is an upcoming mini-album by The Residents, which features songs composed for the live tour adaptation of the group's 1979 concept album Eskimo. It is scheduled for release on September 25th 2026 as a 10" vinyl EP, via Cherry Red Records, MVD Audio and New Ralph Too.[1]
First announced in the January 2026 issue of Cherry Red's Residents mailing list newsletter,[2] Eskimo Folk Tales features five "brand new recordings based on original folk tales handed to The Residents by The Mysterious N. Senada" in the 1970s, as well as a bonus sixth track, "The Arctic Fox". As with the original Eskimo album, the new tracks will be accompanied by "read-along stories, as written down by Senada almost half a century ago".
Two of the new songs, "A Tale of Two Tupilaqs" and "The Skeleton at the Bottom of the Sea", were debuted at The Residents' performance of Eskimo Live at Exotikon Exotica and Tiki Festival at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles on June 7th 2025. Music videos for both songs debuted on the streaming platform Night Flight Plus on September 5th 2025.
