2005 was The Residents' 33rd Anniversary. It was celebrated with their first tour of Australia in 19 years, and is well remembered for the release of Animal Lover.

  • 4th: The Residents debut 'The Way We Were' at The Forum Theatre, Melbourne, Australia.
  • 5th: The Residents perform The Way We Were at The Forum Theatre, Melbourne, Australia.
  • 8th: The Residents perform at The Metro Theatre, Sydney, Australia
  • 10th: The Residents perform at The Metro Theatre, Sydney, Australia
  • 12th: The Residents perform at The Powerhuse, Brisbane, Australia.
  • 17th: The Residents Play Wormwood is announced.[3]
  • 28th: Animal Lover is released in the western world.[4]

April

  • 29th: The Residents return from Australia.[5]
  • D-Side #27 is released. It is a French magazine which comes with a CD of new music, including the recently released 'Two-Lips.'[6]

September

  • 2nd: Not Available is re-issued on CD,[12] LP as part of The Residents Classic Vinyl Series.
  • 26th: Mute Records' Hardback Third Reich N Roll Re-issue is released.[13]
  • The Residents, who's studio was undergoing a seismic upgrade, are offered the opportunity to record at a newly built studio in Romania.

  • 14th: Mute Records' Mole Trilogy re-issues are released.

December

  • 13th: Mute Records release their two Mole Trilogy box-sets.
