On October 29th 1982, The Residents performed The Mole Show twice at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, California. The two shows were The Residents' first live performances outside San Francisco and Berkeley.
The show's narrator Penn Jillette broke his foot during the finale of one of the night's two performances,[1] and had to perform seated for the remainder of the first leg of the tour. There were apparently tensions between the Roxy house crew and The Residents, with Philip Perkins later recalling that the Roxy crew "hated us - super cranks. We didn't give them enough drugs I guess."[1]
These Roxy performances were followed by two more on the following night; a bootleg recording comprising parts of the two October 30th performances was released as the live album Mole Show the following year.
