2001

From RZWiki

The year of 2001 was kicked off with the release of The Residents' first of several DVDs, Icky Flix, which collected most of the group's music videos (along with new ones created for the project), as well as remastered Vileness Fats footage. The music tracks for these short films were given newly-recorded alternate versions, which formed the basis of the group's next world tour.

As for new material, at least one of The Residents was interested in a project about the American Civil War. Although the rest of the group did not share a lot of interest in the initial sketches, The Residents did employ the idea of reprocessing public-domain folk tunes for an unrelated mini-album titled High Horses.

The European leg of the Icky Flix tour was in progress when the September 11 attacks in New York City took place, and the emotional shock of that event inspired the group to record material for another project, eventually titled Demons Dance Alone, while the "Civil War album" was shelved for the time being.
