"The Bobuck album is a gem. Even though covers of previous material, the interpretations are modern with feet firmly in the present and future, not stuck in the past." -Nick Ritchie

TOOK is a limited edition CD label operated by a partnership of Klanggalerie/ HardyFox/ Bobuck. The editions are generally limited to 300 CD copies.
--TOOK #1 The Swords of Slidell - August 2016 - sold out --TOOK #2 Later Tonight - August 2016 - sold out

Missing Soldiers is a collection of early work for a Residents album that never materialized. The concept was an album about the Civil War fought in the United States in the mid 1800s.
The plan was to integrate a number of songs from the era into the structure of the material. These were Bobuck's early MIDI sketches for those historic tunes.
This collection has been available as a download on the Bobuck Bandcamp page with a different cover.
TOOK #3 will be an edition of 300 copies and available only by mail-order from Klanggalerie.
Compact Disc === Coming in December

"I have heard all of your releases, both solo and Residents for decades. Black Tar is your best full album release in many years. It excels much farther than Resident albums from the past 20 years, and has the feel of old classic Residents." -Chris Bensen
ASK HARDY SHIT
Q: I am confused about Charles Bobuck. How does he relate to The Residents?
There is nothing complicated. Bobuck was co-founder of The Residents, but due to health issues could no longer work with what had become largely a touring band. He retired to spend his time writing music for his personal pleasure in 2015. For me, I was a founder and president of The Cryptic Corporation until 2016 when I left and formed a new arts company called Hacienda Bridge. First thing I did was offer to publish Bobuck's new music as well as doing some writing projects.
A bit misleading, but maybe this is helpful:
- The Cryptic Corporation = Hacienda Bridge
- Hardy Fox = Hardy Fox
- The Residents (original) = Charles Bobuck (Residents co-founder)
- The Residents (touring band) = (nothing because we don't tour)
- Ralph Records = Klanggalerie (based in Vienna, Austria)
- UWEB fan club = TOOK limited editions
- Pale Pachyderm Publishing BMI = Hacienda Bridge Music BMI
Q: What is your thoughts on vinyl? What medium is best in your opinion?
Best quality is download, also worst. When I posted BLACK TAR, I made the files 24bit, better than CD, but there is no standared encoding rate, method, or compression. Vinyl is pretty bad, of course. Anything that requires RIAA encoding is going to be sloppy.
But there is a different issue besides sound quality. While I do not own a turntable, I do appreciate that LPs are more like friends. Friends grow old and become fragile. But even an old LP will still play, while a damaged CD is useless, and technology changes so fast that download compression is unpredictable in the long haul.
I like CDs as the middle ground between vinyl and download/streaming. If I was going to make love to an album, I would choose an LP, even if CDs are easier to clean up.
Q: Do you think Bobuck and The Residents have gotten the attention they deserve?
The opinion of the amount they deserve varies from person to person with many believing they get far more attention than they deserve. Most people do not like the music coming from these people. But I take it that you are asking if they should get more attention. The Residents got a massive amount of attention in the late 70s-early 80's. Perhaps more than you realize. I think it is important to realize that the position The Residents have always taken is to stand apart from popular culture, while still bumping into the fringes of it. If they got more attention, they would be forced to move further away from that attention, or accept the position of being the boy band of the era.
I think they/we are well positioned to get exactly as much attention as we/they want. Why would anyone want to be more famous than The Residents?
Q: Has (the person who portrays) Randy written music for The Residents? Has (the person who portrays) Charles Bobuck written lyrics for The Residents?
Each person has done both music and lyrics (a lot of talent here) including completely solo work that is still marketed as "The Residents." Though, for the most part, "Randy" is a lyricist and performer, and "Charles" is the composer. Or was the composer before leaving the group. I do not know who will be the composer for future Residents. Not that it matters particularily. Perhaps not in your case, but most fans are only interested in the first ten years of The Residents plus seeing them live. So they have logically evolved into a live band.
That is a difference at Hacienda Bridge Even though Charlie and I were Santa Dog-ers, Duck Stabbing, 13th Anniversary touring, Freak Showing, Randy-Chuck-Bob-ing and all the rest... now, instead, we are building a bridge, a Hacienda Bridge, from that old Residents history toward, well, we don't know where it goes and that is the point. We know we have a good footing, an anchor coming out of The Residents but now we are building a footbridge away from The Residents one step at a time. If you want to be realistic, at our age, the bridge goes to the grave. But if you want to be romantic, the bridge goes to beautiful places never seen or heard by humans. If people end up only being interested in our first ten years, that is fine because that is all the time we have.
Got a burning question about The Residents, Bobuck, me or the meaning of life. I might ignore it, or I might answer.

• THE FOLLOWING ARE POLITICAL OPINIONS.
• READ ONLY IF YOU WISH.
Congratulations, Hillary Clinton, for winning
THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD
for best policies for the future of America.
Unfortunately, America is stuck with the unpopular policies due to not being a true democracy.
"The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy."
- Donald Trump (2012)
I guess we blew our chance. We have to apologize to the world and hope the next election will get us back on track, assuming T doesn't blow up everything. Youth votes for progress, today's 14-17 kids will be voting next time.
Trump was elected because he was on TV. If he was not already famous, he would not have been the GOP nomination. Likewise, if Martin Sheen had run against Trump, we would have a re-boot of The West Wing in office. This seems a fairly ignorant way to run a country, but we are children of the media age. We are thinking like children. Americans want the cupcake, not the broccoli. Hillary was, well, broccoli.
Some say Trump's innocence will disappear as he is confronted with real world issues instead of his fantasy game of casinos and golf courses. I think he is dangerous. I see him as an enemy to American values, to free thought, to the right to pursue happiness. He lacks culture, taste, and empathy.
We have to survive him and when he is gone, well, try to make America great again.
Thanks for reading my opinion.
