  • 29th: The Residents debut The Wonder of Weird in Phoenix, Arizona.
    • Among the merch items are two new CDs: the Ten Two Times compilation, and the new album Mush-Room, a commissioned work for a dance performance by Grace Ellen Barkey.

  • 1st: European tour dates are announced for The Wonder of Weird.
  • 27th: The first episode of the new Randy Rose web series, In My Room (produced by Don Hardy), is uploaded.

  • 16th: CB Suite, a "reconsideration" of Coochie Brake by Charles Bobuck, is released through the Robot Selling Device.
  • 20th: Charles Bobuck's pre-show music for the WoW tour, Life is ... My Only Sunshine, is released through the Ralph eBay Outlet.
  • 24th: The Residents perform The Wonder of Weird in Leuven, Belgium.
  • 25th: The Residents perform The Wonder of Weird in Karlsruhe, Germany.

July

  • Pop artist Ke$ha has backup dancers dressed up in Resident-esque tuxedos and top-hatted eyeball masks on her stage show, generating small controversy; the Cryptic Corporation acknowledges the breach of intellectual property but does not press charges.

August

  • The retrospective review blog Grandpa Gio and The Residents is launched, presenting small essays on The Residents' key projects under the guise of diary entries from the character Grandpa Gio, who purportedly "has written about The Residents ever since they first started." The blog follows an "accelerated" timeline starting from the release of Santa Dog in December 1972, and is correctly predicted to arrive at the present in December 2016.

September

  • The Cryptic Corporation eagerly announces their first sale of the Ultimate Box Set, to a fan named Tripmonster in Indiana. The fridge's delivery in October is celebrated and filmed for the Theory of Obscurity documentary.

October

  • A new Residents show is announced for the 10th of May 2014 in Nantes, France.
  • The Robot Selling Device is announced to be shutting down due to the imminent closure of the server that hosted it.
  • Other Minds releases Sarah Cahill's A Sweeter Music, an album of premiere recordings of works commissioned by her, including The Residents' 2009 composition "drum no fife".
  • 22nd: Charles Bobuck launches the Radio Thoreau project with two new singles available for streaming services: a live version of "My Window" in France, and a remix of "God's Magic Finger" from Roadworms.
  • 24th: A remix of "The Bunny Boy" is released under Radio Thoreau.
  • 28th: A remix of "The Weatherman" is released under Radio Thoreau.

November

  • 3rd: The Delta Nudes' Greatest Hiss is released through the Ralphlet, The Residents' new self-release outlet hosted by Bandcamp.
  • 4th: The Bobuck track "Shake It Shake It (I Wet My Bed)" is offered on The Residents' website as a late Halloween treat.
  • 5th: Mush-Room is reissued on CD and vinyl by MVD.
  • 11th: The Theory of Obscurity Indiegogo campaign is launched.
  • 13th: A remix of "Blood on the Bunny" is released under Radio Thoreau.
  • 20th: The new Randy Rose & Don Hardy webseries, RandyLand, is premiered to replace the In My Room series.
  • 25th: A remix of "Wolverines" is released under Radio Thoreau.
