Where Is She?
"Where Is She?" is a song written and recorded by The Residents, a short piece featured in the 1984 movie The Census Taker. It is best known as a part of the 13th Anniversary Show and Icky Flix projects, where it was fleshed out into a more complete piece, incorporating parts from the song "Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers."
Background
The song first appeared in the 1984 film The Census Taker, and appeared on the soundtrack album released February 16th, 1985. The Residents first played the song live on October 28th of that same year, as part of a medley with "Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers." The Residents, with Snakefinger on guitar, continued to play the song throughout the 13th Anniversary Show tour, including at the January 10th 1987 farewell performance at the Warfield Theater.
Despite being a relatively deep cut, the song has been performed live by the Residents 114 times, 70 times both during the 13th Anniversary Show tour, and 44 times during the 2001 Icky Flix tour.
Using footage from live performances of "Man's World" and "Cry For The Fire" and audio from the 13th Anniversary Show live in Holland CD, The Residents created a short music video for the song. This music video was featured on the Twenty Twisted Questions video in 1992, the Freak Show CD-ROM and the Icky Flix DVD, accompanied with a re-recording of the song.
