The Brick-Eaters performances
In October 2018 The Residents held two events in San Francisco to promote the release of their novel The Brick-Eaters. At these events, Homer Flynn performed live readings from the novel, with some musical accompaniment from The Residents.
The first event was at Swedish American Hall on October 16th 2018, and the second event was at City Lights Bookstore on October 31st 2018.
History
The first event The Residents held to promote the release of their novel The Brick-Eaters was at Swedish American Hall on October 16th 2018, and featured Homer Flynn (aka "Captain Doc" of The Cryptic Corporation) reading excerpts from the novel, interspersed with musical performances by The Residents. After the reading, The Residents performed a shortened version of their In Between Dreams show, featuring videos of characters reading the novel. This performance was streamed live online, in a 360 degree interactive video.
The second (free) event was at City Lights Bookstore on October 31st 2018, shortly following the passing of long-time composer and engineer for the group Hardy Fox the day prior. This event featured Flynn again reading excerpts from the novel, with improvised musical backing by The Residents alongside him. Flynn signed copies of the novel for fans at this event.
