Peter Whitehead
Peter Whitehead is a vocalist who has collaborated with The Residents on several of their mainline projects since 2017. From 1998 to 2003, he was signed to Strange Attractor and Out Of Round Records, under which he released two studio albums Three Bags Full (1998) and Now This (2001). He is also a founding member of Conspiracy of Beards.[1][2]
Whitehead is best known as an inventor of instruments.
Background
Born in England, Peter Whitehead relocated to the United States in 1975, and has been based in both San Francisco and New York. In 1984, Whitehead's Goods News Will Come To You From Far Away tape was released by A.R.P.H. Tapes on cassette. He later described his work from this period as experiments with "the sonic possibilities of found objects, kitchenware and electric guitars" and in 1989, while travelling Northern Thailand, Whitehead began making his own instruments using bamboo, bicycle spokes, tin cans and rice.[2]
Whitehead soon began to develop a reputation for scoring dance pieces, starting with 1994's Giselle.
