Sam's Enchanted Evening version

During The Residents performance of Sam's Enchanted Evening at The Marsh in Berkeley Sam would give many monolog in-between almost every song. Here is a transcription of this monolog as found on the Klanggalerie release of this show.

It was fuckin’ brutal! They would, They would take somebody out, and we'd hear em screaming and begging to stop and, then they'd bring em back all BENT over and BEAT up. Like a whipped dog. And he'd just plop down in one corner of the hut, making these, pitifully little whimpering sounds.

I dont know, I dont know how many times they took ol’ Mack out and everybody else, but. But.

They never tortured me.

They never tortured me! Oh they took me out, yeah they took me out alright, but. But they didn't do anything, they didn't do anything! I don't know why it wasn't my fault. But, everybody got pissed at me. They all got pissed at me and-an-and they said.

“How come they don't do it to you? How come they don't do it to you?”

And I began, I began to wish they they would torture me but. Then I realized, nobody wants to be tortured. They, they took Mack out and, brought him back with, skin peeled off of his arm. I reached out and, and tried to hold him. And he said,

“Fuck you, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU.”

And turned away.

I BEG THOSE KOOKS, I BEGGED THOSE FUCKING KOOKS TO TORTURE ME And. They just laughed. They just laughed.
