Miniatures 2020

Miniatures 2020 is an anthology album paying homage to the 1980 album Miniatures. The Residents, who contributed material for the initial release, contributed a single one minute track to the album.

Background

Back in October of 1979 The Residents were invited to contribute to an anthology album of 51 one minute long songs. Seeing as they were already working on an album of 40 one minute songs, they agreed to contribute. The album was released the following year, and on the 40th anniversary of it's release, The Residents were once again invited to contribute.

This follow up was announced on July 24th 2020, through Barry Lamb's blog. On November 3rd promotion for the album began, with a trailer and Facebook page being created. Shortly afterwards a series of music videos from the album began to release on YouTube. On the 10th of December a January 2021 release date was announced, but it was ultimately pushed back to March. The Residents' contribution was announced in February.

As well as the contribution from The Residents, the album also features music by Yumi Hara, Tom Robinson, Adrian Sherwood, Half Japanese, John Greaves, Fred Frith, Boo Hewerdine, Ezio, Lorraine Bowen, Rapoon, John Ellis, Martin Newell, Attila the Stockbroker, David Cunningham, Findlay Napier, Supercharge, Henry Priestman, Andy Ellison, Sonja Kristina, Dot Wiggin Band, Chris Cutler, Ric Sanders, Kevin Hewick, Bruce Woolley, Geoffrey Richardson, Dylan Howe, Dilate, Bob Drake & Geoff Leigh.
