Matthew Abram Groening is an American cartoonist, writer, producer, animator, and voice actor. He is the creator of the comic strip Life in Hell (1977 - 2012) and the television series The Simpsons (1989–present), as well as Futurama (1999–2003, 2008–2013) and Disenchantment (2018–2023).

The Simpsons is the longest-running US prime time television series in history and the longest-running US animated series and sitcom.

Groening is a noted fan of The Residents.

Residents Association

In 1979 Matt wrote the first biography on The Residents, titled, The True Story of The Residents.

In 2010 The Residents performed Talking Light at his All Tomorrow's Parties Festival

In 2015 he was interviewed for The Theory of Obscurity.
