The Los Angeles Free Music Society (or LAFMS) is a loose collective of underground musicians founded in Los Angeles in 1974 by Joe Potts, Rick Potts and Chip Chapman. The collective has consisted of avant-garde musical artists such as Smegma, Le Forte Four and Doo-Dooettes.
Since 1975, the collective has released a number of compilation albums highlighting the work of avant-garde musicians from Los Angeles; the 1977 compilation Blorp Esette (Volume One) featured the song "Whoopy Snorp" by The Residents. Between 1982 and 1984, the society also operated the record label The Solid Eye, releasing works by members and associates of the collective.
A ten disc retrospective CD box set of the collective's work, LAMFS: The Lowest Form of Music, was released in 1996. In 2021, a limited edition 13 LP box set was released by Vinyl On Demand.
