Gaw Nihc

From RZWiki
Am I A Resident?
The subject of this article contributed to the 2018 album I Am A Resident!.

Gaw Nihc are an anonymous/pseudonymous English art-rock group, founded in winter 1993 by Australian guitarist Seedy Reed. They released their debut album, Perfect Sex Soundtrack, in 1999. A second album, Don't Quantize Me, I'm Already Dead, was recorded in 2001 and withheld from release in tribute to Bavarian music theorist N. Senada's Theory of Obscurity.

Their third album, Bonography, was released in 2016, and their third album, Broken Art, was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. A retrospective compilation, After the Guru, was released in 2025. Much of the group's music has been recorded with 4-track cassette recorders.

In 2017, Gaw Nihc recorded a cover of The Residents' "Hellno" for the tribute/mash-up album I Am A Resident!, which was ultimately interpolated into the CD version of the album in 2018. The group apparently chose this song as they found it to be "one of The Residents' least interesting songs", allowing them "more freedom in covering it".[1]
