Eekie was a pseudonym The Guitar Playing Resident used between 2017 - 2019 on The Residents' In Between Dreams tour.
History
As with the rest of The Real Residents' names, the name Eekie was first used in the 'PlgueDoctors!' vlog uploaded to the Randy Rose YouTube channel on March 15th, 2017. The vlog, taking place within the fiction of Randy, Chuck & Bob, features Randy angered as he discovers The Residents are touring a new album, only he's not in any of the promotional photos released. And has no recollection of the album.
Randy soon discovers that the figures in the promo photos are named Eekie, Erkie, Cha-Cha, and Tyrone, in what seems to be these names' first public use.[1]
The names continued to be used in 'The Residents in Tokyo' series of YouTube shorts,[2] and Eekie was first identified as the guitar-playing Residents in the fourth part.[3] The names continued appearing in promotional material until the release of the 'In Between Dreams CD/DVD' set in 2019,[4] but have not been used since.
All four members of 'The Real Residents' appeared on the inner gatefold of The Residents' forty-second studio album, 'Intruders.'
The name was seemingly used to subtly usher away the personas of Randy, Chuck, Bob, Carlos, and Rico, who had prominently featured in The Residents' work from 2010 - 2016.
Long-time Residents guitarist Nolan Cook has Eekie as his profile picture on Facebook.
