1990
Hot on the heels of the critical and commercial success of the first series of Cube-E performances, The Residents continued to bring the show across several locations in the US and Europe. Once again, they got acclaim from both audiences and critics alike, spawning a live album and another performance on network television. However, an incident at the last show of the tour served as a kind of bad omen to the group, who vowed to never tour again.
Meanwhile, The Residents were already preparing their next project: Freak Show. The album was scheduled for release near the end of the year, and was sold in Europe by December; however, the closure of Enigma (their American label at the time) caused the US release to be delayed into 1991 until they could work out another distribution deal.
